Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Maven Clinic have teamed up to create a new program for family building and support.

It also includes a digital care app that can be used to guide family members through family planning. This includes different routes to parenthood, pregnancy, and postpartum.

Maven Health, a digital family platform, is Maven Health. Maven’s technology allows members to access support during pregnancy, early parenting, and family building.

BCBS stated that the program will address gaps in maternity care and family healthcare and improve clinical outcomes for both parents and babies.

WHAT IS THE IMPACT OF THIS?

Maven, which is an extension of a member’s fertility and maternity benefits and coverage, will provide supplemental support, education, and support between members’ regularly scheduled, in person prenatal or postpartum appointments.

One-on-one support from Care Advocates, which can address questions 24/7, is designed to help members find in-network providers and virtual clinical support from roughly 30 specialty providers, including obstetricians, pediatricians, lactation consultants, pediatric sleep coaches and psychologists.

Three programs can be customized within the platform: Family Building and Maternity. Parenting and pediatrics are also available. Family Building provides resources for fertility treatment, preconception and egg freezing as well as adoption and surrogacy.

Maternity covers 12-months of pregnancy and includes prenatal and postpartum resources and NICU assistance. The Parenting and Pediatrics program is geared toward parents with children 1-10 years old providing pediatric care, parent coaching, special needs support and childcare navigation. Additional cost-free, the Maternity Program includes a spouse track program.

Maven Wallet, a reimbursement tool designed to be used with the Family Building program, can also be used. Maven Wallet allows self-funded employers the ability to reimburse their employees for surrogacy or adoption expenses.
