If you are dividing the work among your family members, explain to them the various chores needed to maintain the house. This way they’ll learn about the different household chores and you could also ask them for help. (Picture credit: Pexels)

New Delhi: Online classes were popular during the Pandemic and Lockdowns. Children had parents to help with the more difficult tasks. This is not true for physical classes. In physical classes, there are teachers to guide them but they don’t do all of the work for the child. This eventually makes them accountable. self-sufficient.

However, the same doesn’t happen when the parent is around. While they learn responsibility for their belongings at school, their parents will be there to help them at home. Physical classes might require them to make some decisions on their own, which helps them to be independent. However, the same doesn’t happen when they are attending classes from home. Here are some suggestions to help your child become more responsible and self-sufficient.

  1. Pace yourself: Don’t worry about not being there around your child all the time. If you’re with them, they tend to depend on you for a lot of their work. However, when you are not around them, they learn to do things by themselves and that’s how they learn to be responsible.
  2. Establish new rules: Give your children some responsibility by setting rules and giving them some control. Your children should feel part of the household. Sharing small chores can help them become responsible and self-sufficient.
  3. Include them in the family calendar. This way they’ll learn about the different household chores and you could also ask them for help.
  4. Move away: As a parent, you might be willing to do all of the work for your children but that won’t help them in the long run. For them to be self-sufficient and responsible, you need to let them do their work on their own and that’s how they’ll learn.
