Wynonna Judd’s first televised interview since the April 30th death of her mother, Naomi Judd, will find the singer describing her grief and the questions she still has.
A clip shared with CBS Sunday Morning Wynonna is trying to explain mental illness. “That’s where I live. It’s like “Was that something I should’ve looked for or knew?” She continues to ask. “I didn’t. That’s why it was so shocking.
Lee Cowan talks with Judd about her mother and the days leading up to her death by suicide. The 58-year old tells Judd how she didn’t know her mother was at the point where she was ready to end herself. Her mother had been in similar situations many times and has turned her back. Wynonna explains how happiness can be found between two days of despair.
“That’s why it’s so confusing,” she says at the end of the clip.
The complete interview will air on CBS on Sunday, September 25th. Additional text available CBS News finds Judd describing the sequence of events on April 30 from her point of view.

She says, “I received the call, so I went over and saw her. And that was it.” “I said good-bye to her in hospital, and then I closed my eyes and kissed her forehead. And the next thing I know, I’m sitting here on the front porch, on the side porch … you know, and I’m just trying to figure out what’s next.”
The very next day, the Judds were to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and — with the family’s blessing — that ceremony went forward as scheduled. Wynonna said that the Judds Final Tour will continue as planned, which Wynonna believes her mother would want.
“I feel her nudging at me. She laughs sometimes. “And sometimes I say, “I really miss” you. “Why aren’t we here to argue?”
