Are you curious about whether your child is gifted? You want to know how to raise your precocious, curious child. Science & Arts Academy (SAA), an independent school for gifted students in Des Plaines, is hosting a parent education event titled “Understanding Giftedness” from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19. The parent education event is open to all and is free of charge.
Kathleen Nilles, communications and parent services manager for the National Association for Gifted Children and editor of Parenting for High Potential magazine and co-author of “Success Strategies for Parenting Gifted Kids”, will speak on “Understanding Giftedness”. Parents will be able to learn about gifted children’s characteristics, educational programming options and strategies for supporting gifted kids at school and home.
Mindy Hildebrandt, Director of Enrollment Management at SAA, has created these parent education events to help local parents. She recognizes the importance of in-person interaction between experts and parents.
“We are delighted to serve as a resource to the broader gifted community, and provide opportunities to parents to make connections.
Parents are invited to register for this, or other events, on the school’s website at scienceandartsacademy.org/events.
