Celebrities face the very real and raw struggle of trying to get it all together when they have little ones. It’s no different for them than it is for us. Meghan Markle, mother of two, shared her morning routine on the latest episode “Archetypes” of her podcast.
The 41-year-old Duchess and 38 year old Prince Harry are the parents to Archie, 3, as well as Lilibet 1, respectively.
“I’m sure it’ll only get more chaotic as they get older,” she says, “But for me, it’s, you know, both monitors on for the kids to hear them, always up with Lili, get her downstairs, then a half hour later, Archie’s up. I make sure to get him a bite and put his lunchbox in the morning before he gets up. My husband’s helping me get him downstairs.”
Markle spoke with Pamela Adlon, guest on the show about being a wife as well as a mother. The episode, entitled “Good Wife/Bad Wife/Good Mom/Bad Mom”, examines the roles and judgments that each of these titles can have.
The Duchess adds, “I make breakfast every morning for them all.” It is very important to me. I love doing it. For me, it’s just the best way to start my day.
She also said that she fed all three dogs and got Archie to school, but it was a hectic time with everything else.
It is impossible to express it other than to admit that the morning rush is unlike any other. The first part of the morning includes getting one child up, making breakfast, dressing them and making sure they have everything they need. It’s also important to be able to multitask. Busy moms must eat and feed their family pets.
“Lily is… just started walking. Archie is three years old, and she’s only a year and two months old. So yeah they are… Oh I’m in the thick of it. Toddling.”
It’s not easy for a baby to walk, as any mother will tell you. Their curious little feet can now take their little ones wherever they want! The joy is as great as the anxiety.
Pamela Adlon is an actress, writer, and producer. However, she also shares that she is a mom of three. She chimes in by saying something I’m sure most (if not all moms) feel about the morning, “Like, I’d want to knock on other moms’ doors when they were making breakfast before school. I mean, it’s how in your house? It’s crazy, I mean, it seems like it’s in my house, like the morning rush.
While the Duchess admits she can’t imagine doing this without a partner, she says Prince Harry is an amazing help. It is hard to imagine how someone could do this without a partner. It’s so hard to be mom, even if you want to raise kind and responsible children
Archewell Audio is the production company that produced Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex’s podcast, “Archetypes”. This podcast and the conversation about motherhood and juggling daily routines is another example of Meghan Markle’s willingness to share little bits of their lives that demonstrate that parenthood is not a universal struggle.
