Rebel Wilson recalled the “loss” she felt after learning that her IVF journey did not go as planned.
The Pitch Perfect Next, the actress who stars in the film The Seahorse and the Almond, revealed that she had just delivered her daughter Royce Lillian via surrogate. In an interview with PeopleWilson explained that her original path to motherhood, which included freezing her eggs to be pregnant via IVF, was a difficult one.
“During the filming I received some terrible news that all my harvested eggs up until that point had not survived being thawed,” Wilson, who plays a woman who wants to become a mother in her new film, explained. “So I’d lost a huge amount of weight and been through three surgeries at that point and no viable embryos. It was terrible.
“It was feelings of loss, feelings of hope — and it all played into my performance,” Wilson said. It was very difficult.
Wilson has previously spoken about how 2020’s “Year of Health,” which included a weight-loss journey, was inspired by her desire to carry children. In a May interview, Wilson spoke with PeopleThe JoJo Rabbit star — who also suffers from PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) — recalled her doctor telling her to lose weight after she expressed her desire to become a parent.
“I was taken aback,” she admitted. “I thought, ‘Oh God, this’s guy’s so rude.’ He was correct. I was carrying around excess weight. It was almost as if I forgot to consider my own needs. This was what inspired me to improve my health.
In an interview with Yahoo Life on April 20, 2022 Wilson spoke out about her desire to start a family.
“I just know I still have eggs, so I can still try, and still have chances, but it’s a real emotional rollercoaster, where you think you might be successful and it doesn’t turn out that way,” Wilson shared. “Having a family would be great, if I’m blessed with that. I’ll have to see. Unfortunately I don’t know where it’s going to go, but I have been trying for the past few years. I just really sympathize with anyone going through it.”
