REIDSVILLE — Executive Director of the Rockingham Pregnancy Care Center Sharon Wingate spoke Nov. 10 to the Reidsville Kiwanis Club about how the nonprofit organization assists pregnant women and those who are parents.
Their Eden facility offers compassionate support and realistic assistance to all who are pregnant or have a child.
Wingate stated that PCC provides free prenatal care and pregnancy testing. She also offers parenting education and maternity clothing.
Wingate stated, “Most clients just require support.” Wingate said clients can be anywhere from 12 to 50 years old. But, most pregnancies she sees are in women aged between 20-24.
Her staff is there to support clients throughout their pregnancy and the first year of their child’s life.

Some children come with their father, while others arrive on their own. Sometimes, physical abuse is going on between the father and mother.
Wingate actually discussed a case where a father beat his mother so severely that a child died in utero.
She also shared the story of a young, pregnant girl who considered an abortion but was able to see her baby’s image via an ultra-sound.
