His team was already busy with engagements on that day, which were not supported by bus, train or underground strikes.
The letter will be sold by auctioneers at William George in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire on January 10.
A spokesperson stated that Diana Princes of Wales and H.R.H Prince William signed the letter, which was dated 21st Juni 1989.
“It’s on Kensington Palace headed Paper, addressed to Sgt George Plumb Special Escort Group in Diana’s Handwriting.
“It is a tribute to Sgt Plumb, and his team, who put on an outstanding display by the Precision Motorbike team of the special Escort group for Prince William’s 7th birthday.
“She was very grateful to the group for fitting this in on a day that was already packed with official engagements. It was not helped at all by the rail, underground, and bus strikes. That strikes a chord with today.
“It is very special to have an item signed by Diana and William.”
Six years ago, the letter was taken by Sgt Plumb from his estate.
