Two best friends, who were pregnant for the second consecutive time, gave birth just two days apart in an incredible story.
It was made to be.
Shauna wheeler, 41, is best friends with Ivy Chichester, 37. Their friendship began in April 2021, when they met through Peanut, an app that allows mums to meet other moms.
Shauna spoke out to Today to reveal that she had given birth to her two-year-old daughter a week prior to Ivy’s son.
Ivy also has Shauna’s birthday on the same day as Shauna. Ivy explained to the outlet that she and Ivy have always had these connection points so it is natural for our babies to have similar birth dates.
Shauna stated that their friendship is bound only by these small coincidences. She couldn’t believe they were both pregnant. Please try again All of this while being simultaneously.
She said that she had been confirming her pregnancy a week earlier (Ivy), and was now speculating she may be pregnant.
“I kinda snickered, since I feel like people always believe that, but it was too early to know if she had symptoms for real.”
Ivy, who lives with her best friend in Richmond, Virginia, disagrees. She stated: “I felt that implant.”
Shauna confirmed the pregnancy to her mom friends and immediately went to get a test.
She said, “Sure enough. I was.” “That line was the pinkest I’ve ever seen it – it was prominent.”
Both women were apprehensive about the news but for different reasons – while Ivy was concerned about the idea of having a second child, Shauna was worried as she had previously experienced a miscarriage.
They were able to support each other and their friends, Ivy stating: “It was so nice having a judgement-free zone where I could express my feelings and get the mental and emotional support of my village.
“These conversations helped me through the difficulties, and Shauna was pregnant so we could support one another on a greater level as we were both going through it.”
Shauna had originally planned for a C section, but Shauna’s date was changed after routine checks revealed her high blood pressure.
She gave birth to a healthy baby boy on 5 December.
She stated, “The next morning I was in recovery and Ivy was supposed visit me.”
“Ivy called me a couple of hours later and said that she was at the hospital. My husband responded, “She said she couldn’t visit.” I responded, “Um. She’s in labor.”
It was her best friend who gave birth on 7/12/2008.
Ivy stated that “it felt surreal, yet also right.” It felt like we were meant for each other at the hospital, and that we were meant have our babies at the same moment. Our friendship was meant to be.
The future is a bright spot for the couple, who are hopeful that their children will enjoy the same close relationship they have.
Ivy said, “I hope they will be lifelong friendships.” However, I think of one thing that I never forget, as a person with colour: my sense of self, and the need to be part of a community.
“And what’s so important for me, because I’m raising boys, is that they see the beauty in Black women.
“There’s no excuse – no excuse – because they’ve been exposed to beautiful, smart intelligent Black women.”
