A mix-up at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Warwick led to the wrong baby being reported as the facility’s first baby of the new year.

Jennifer and Steven Maher from Monroe had their rainbow baby, Faith on January 1st at 7:05 AM.

Jennifer, who previously had a miscarriage and stillbirth, tells News 12 she fainted after the delivery and was unable to be interviewed at the time.

She says the hospital instead incorrectly shared the news online and with other media outlets that the facility’s second baby, who was born hours later, was the first.

A Westchester, Medical Center Health Network representative says it’s hospital policy to report the second baby as the first when a family declines to be interviewed or asks for privacy. They apologized for the mix-up and said the information will be immediately corrected.

Jennifer says she wants to thank her doctors and hospital staff for helping her deliver a healthy baby and says without them it would not have been possible.

The hospital’s second baby of 2023 was Kinsley Capezza, born to Joseph and Sara Capezza, from Chester.
