Hilary Duff says that her little bundle is also a purveyor for luck.
The 35-year-old guest appeared on Thursday’s Mother Daze podcast hosted Sarah Wright Olsen & Teresa Palmer.
The podcast centres on all things parenting and motherhood — including breastfeeding, home birth stories, mental health tips and more.
The actress spoke out about her pregnancy and how she was asked to appear on “How I Met Your Father”. One week later, Duff gave birth to Mae.
At the time, the mother-of-three revealed she was “extraordinary pregnant” and felt her baby brought a wave of luck — something she hopes all mothers experience.
The Disney alum said to Olsen and Palmer, “I feel that every time I have children, it brings me luck.”
Duff’s manager asked her for a conversation with the show’s creators. The “Lizzie McGuire” star wondered, “Why would they want to talk about me?” I don’t understand — Why am I getting a job right now, like, what’s happening?”
She credited the moment to her unborn child, saying: “I think that babies bring like — obviously themselves, which is a wonderful gift — but they’ve always brought me such luck.”
The actress acknowledged that it was difficult to return to work after giving birth.
It’s hard to go back to work after having children. You just have to make it happen. She said.
Later in the episode, Duff, who has one child — Luca, 10 — with ex-husband Mike Comrie and two children —Mae, 1, and Banks, 4 —with current husband Matthew Koma, spoke about the positives of blended parenting and how her, Koma and Comrie make it work.
Fighting is not an option, even though there are times when it’s difficult. We must put our personal selves aside to ensure that every child gets what they need.” she shared.
Duff said that it was important to establish personal boundaries when blending families, and to “appreciate the past in order to move forward in a positive way.”
She explained to her children the concept of blended family to them, and she said that it was important to “frame it as more.”
She stated, “You get more love, relationships, and experiences.” “…Luca is not always with me, but I know he’s happy and secure.
