Jude Owen Dow was welcomed by LincolnHealth Miles Maternity at 12:44 on Sunday, January 1, 2018. This makes him the likely first Maine baby to be born in 2023.
Dow weighed 8 lbs, 1/2 ounce and measured 20 1/2 inches in length.
He is the child of Zachary and Kasey Dow, both of Waldoboro. The couple had planned for a home birth, but a complication brought them to LincolnHealth’s Miles Campus in Damariscotta. Kasey Dow went through 28 1/2 hours labor before the baby was born. He is the couple’s first child.
“He’s perfectly fine and super strong,” Kasey Dow said. “We are just so happy.”
As for the fact that their son is likely the first baby born in Maine in 2023, Zachary Dow said “Well, that’s just icing on the cake.”
