ROMAN Catholic Archbishop Kingston Kenneth Richards urges parents not to pamper their children, as this can make them less willing conform to rules.
Richards spoke at Wednesday’s National Day of Prayer in St Andrew. He said that parents should be more assertive for their children to maintain discipline.
“We pamper them, because we want them to stay. We [are] They are afraid to ask for everything they want. They get everything they want, but we end up losing them. Richards stated that Richards has given up control over his children.
“We forget that children can be minors. They must follow our direction and guidance, but we manipulate them and they do the same.” [who] Get into trouble at school. Richards added, “Then we go to school and defend them instead of putting in their place.” He also said that today’s children are dictating to their parents.
“The hairstyle, tight clothes and dem get good pants. But by the time you turn around it squeeze up pon dem feet and it’s short enough to fi just drop down. Richards stated that parents must be more understanding of the changes taking place and urged parents to respect their children’s dignity.
Richards encouraged parents to raise their children in righteousness before setting a foundation for them as adults.
“Grow your children in the Lord’s way, and if they turn 18, make any changes. But make sure that you have laid the foundation. Richards stated, “Take charge of your home as we move into the new Year.”
“Too many people know the violence producers. Many of us also know who has the gun. We say wi nah nothing because “Mi nuh don’t want anybody to kill me”. Richards added that we need the nation to stand up against evil and against crime.
