TikTok went viral after an influencer shared her story of giving birth to her fifth baby.

On January 3, Chrissy Horton, a blogger, TikToker, and Instagrammer based in San Diego, California, posted a three-minute video to her TikTok account which she said in the caption she started recording as she began feeling her “first serious contractions.” Horton appeared to be in a hospital and give birth. She then held her baby.

@hortonlane What it’s like to give birth! Follow me as I deliver my fifth child. When I was pregnant, I had no idea what I should expect when I gave birth to my first child. I wish I could have had someone to guide me through the process, including how long it might take, which interventions are required, and what my options were. I decided to record and share every moment of my birthing experience, from beginning to end. As my first severe contractions occurred, I began recording. Braxton Hicks was something I’d been experiencing for several weeks. But, this day my contractions were very different. They were stronger, and I could feel my entire uterus contracting. They became more intense and I started breathing harder. That’s when I knew the contractions needed to be timed. They say you know it’s time to leave for the hospital when your contractions are happening at least every 5 minutes, last for one minute each, and have been happening consistently for 1 hour. It’s called the 5-1-1 rule. It’s the 5-1-1 rule. I have always been a big mom, with babies weighing over 10 lbs. For baby number 5, I wanted an unmedicated birth. I’ve had epidurals for every birth. Unfortunately I didn’t make it. I was very close but knew I would not be able push if I continued to suffer from the pain. My epidural births have been enjoyable! They enabled me to relax and feel more present during the experience. Relaxing is also key. Each time I tried to birth unmedicated labor wouldn’t progress. This is only my personal experience. Everyone is going to have a different birth story 🤗❤️ #givingbirthbelike #birthstory #birthstorytime #pregnantmama #pregnancyvlog #momtobe2023 #hospitalbag #givingbirthisnojoke #postpartumrecovery #10lbsbaby #hospitalbirth #hospitalbagessentials #pregnantmama #41weekspregnant #epiduralbirth #naturalbirth #unmedicatedbirth ♬ original sound – Chrissy Horton

“When my first baby was born, I did not know what to expect. Horton added in the caption, “I wish I had someone who could talk me through the length of labor, the interventions that are required, and my options.”

The video received more than 6.4 million views. Horton provided captions with time stamps for each event. According to TikTok Horton was seen to have checked in at 3:30 AM and asked for an epidural by 4:00 AM.

Horton claimed that she had “an epidural” for all her deliveries and she wanted the delivery unmedicated. She said however, “Knowing I would lose the strength to press if I continued suffering and fighting the pain.”

Horton stated in the video voiceover that the delivery was about to get real. I won’t edit it. If you are unable to handle the heat, get out the kitchen. Horton was shown in tears lying on a hospital mattress as she was instructed to push.

The video then shows post-birth moments. It shows her holding the baby on her chest, her partner cutting off the umbilical chord, and medical staff measuring and weighing the baby.

This video has received more than 15,600 comments. One user commented, “Thanks for sharing the raw reality of birth. “I’m currently pregnant with my first, and I’m scared af,” was one of the comments that attracted over 52,300 likes.

“The most real video I have ever seen!” “I love this page,” was a comment with more than 1,600 likes.

Horton has over 552,000 followers on her TikTok account where she describes herself in her bio as “Your big sis through pregnancy, postpartum & motherhood.” Horton uploads regular videos that include pregnancy checklists, tips for new mothers, and day-in the life of a mom videos. Her blog shares tips and lifestyle advice on motherhood. She has 142,000 followers on Instagram.
