By Abdul BasheerTwo women gave birth in a government hospital and died on Friday while being treated at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad. Their relatives protested outside the hospital and accused the doctors of negligence.

Both women gave birth at Malakpet’s government-run hospital in Hyderabad. After that, they were referred by Gandhi Hospital for better care. On Friday, they died while receiving treatment at Gandhi Hospital.

Mahesh (23) was a Nagarkurnool driver who admitted Sri Venella (23) his pregnant wife to Malakpet for her delivery. On Wednesday, she gave birth to a baby via cesarean section. Ramesh said that his wife began to shiver after the delivery. However, nobody noticed her condition.

Mahesh was told the next day by her husband that her condition had worsened. Her pulse rate dropped and her heartbeat increased. She was immediately transferred to Gandhi Hospital, where she died on Friday.

Shivani, a Tirupati woman from Andhra Pradesh was also admitted to Malakpet for her delivery on Tuesday. She gave birth by caesarean on Tuesday. Her sugar and BP levels plummeted and doctors asked Jagdish, her husband, to transport her to Gandhi Hospital. Her condition became critical, and she succumbed to her injuries just hours later.

Friday was a day when the kin of the deceased protested against the doctors. They claimed that they had shown negligence in causing the deaths of the women. After filing a complaint, a case was opened against the doctors.

The investigation involved sending both bodies for a periodic medical exam (PME) in order to determine the cause of death. This will allow for further investigation.
