Sarah Ferguson, aka Fergie, was overcome with emotion when she gave a speech at Lisa Marie Presley’s funeral on Sunday. The Duchess of York quoted her ‘late mother in law’ the Queen during this service.
Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis’ only daughter, passed away on January 12, at the age of 54, after experiencing a cardiac arrest at their home.
Many people attended her public funeral at Graceland in Memphis. She was buried with her father Benjamin and Benjamin in 2020.

She stated, “You spoke about the flames and it’s time we all need to stoke the flames within to accomplish what Joel said, which is to celebrate the extraordinary Lisa Marie.” “And now I stand here with great honor because we called one another sissy, and I’ve been with all of you being with all your lives really for the past 40 years. And I stand here with great honor.”
Fergie continued by mentioning Queen Elizabeth II, “Sissy” with affection. My mother-in-law used the saying that nothing can take away the pain and anguish of these moments. She believed that grief was the price we pay to love, and she was right.
“Today, Lisa Marie is the focus of our conversation. We think of Priscilla and Lisa Marie as mothers to Lisa Marie. But we also look at Lisa Marie. There are no words to describe the pain of mothers losing their children. We today talk about action.
“Action is how we can move forward, it’s how we can light the fire. For Riley, Harper, Finley and the whole family, we are there for you. We all stand with you. If you are willing to just raise your hand, we will be there. I will certainly be there.”
Fergie ended by reading a passage written by David Frost before George died. “I have lived my life and loved every moment of it, but as it stands, another life has beckoned.” It is important to remember that I have not died, and that you all still see the light of my life.
“Stay in the sun, never in the shade. Do not curse my absence, it’s the light that you will evade. I live in the smiles of the moon, stars, and sky. I feel an eternal pride watching you all fly.
“And for my darling little children who wonder how to get started, I wish you a great time.
Fergie and Lisa Marie met for the first time in 2009. Lisa Marie was invited to Fergie’s 50th Birthday in London by a friend. Daily Mail, “She’s utterly heartbroken. They were close like sisters.
They said that they spoke almost every day on the phone. They kept the conversation private because it was a special friendship. Lisa Marie didn’t trust many people outside her family but loved Sarah.”
Fergie wrote a touching tribute to Lisa Marie on Instagram. You were my sissy. An amazing mother to Ben Riley, Harper, Finley, Finley, Finley, and a wonderful, loving daughter to Priscilla.
“You’ve been my friend and confidante over many years, and I’m here for you and your family to love and support them. You are my sister, and I am deeply sorry.”
Lisa Marie’s funeral featured performances from Alanis Morissette, Axl Rose, and was attended by her loved ones, including Austin Butler, Elvis actor.
Following the death of their mother in April, Graceland will be owned jointly by Riley and Harper, three daughters of the singer. Lisa Marie was a child at the estate with her mother and father before they split in the 1970s.
