Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi, both retired tennis stars, cheered their son Jaden (21), as he played his first University of Southern California (USC ) baseball game in 2023.
Graf, 53, and Agassi 52, who boasted of their hands-off approach in parenting, were seen smiling and applauding while their 21-year-old took over the pitcher’s plate.
Jaden’s athletic abilities shined at the Marist Red Foxes game at the Dedeaux Field Los Angeles. Jaden was seen wearing a 45 jersey leading his team in a 17-4 victory.
Jaz Elle (19 years old) joined her parents, who were sport stars, in the grandstand as she supported her brother while he played.
The iconic tennis sweethearts – who are both out of the game professionally but still play in charity and exhibition matches – have been married since 2001.
As their son played his first game of the season, the parents were able to see the highs and lows clearly.
Graf and Agassi both looked tense at times, but were seen smiling and applauding during others.
As they supported their son, both wore USC merchandise head-to-toe.
Four days after they said “I do” in Las Vegas, the couple welcomed their son. The 21-year old’s middle name is Gil. This is a tribute to Andre’s former trainer Gil Reyes, with whom he worked until his retirement in 2006.
Jaden played pitcher and third base during the game and tossed 6.1 innings and gave up just one earned run to pick up the victory on the mound.
USC started slow, trailing 3-1 going into the fourth. However, USC’s offense capitalized a few Marist errors to score five runs during the inning.
To break open things, the Trojans scored four runs on the fifth. Then they added six runs in seventh to win the game.
The 21-year old kept his form throughout the game and seemed determined to win, inheriting his parents’ athletic prowess.
Jaden, one of Graf’s two children, was just two years old when he was joined by Jazelle, his sister.
Jaz Elle was seen in the stands with her parents and then later in the parking lot with her family after Jaden’s team win.
The whole family had a great time chatting with friends and strangers during the game and afterwards, with smiles on faces of USC fans.
Stellar Magazine interviewed the couple about their parenting philosophy in 2019 and they shared details with us.
Agassi said that they wanted their children to be free to choose what was best for them and to make sure their lives reflect the things they are passionate about.
“Because doing just a little bit of something is not the deal.”
During the interview, the pair spoke out about the physical trauma that years of playing tennis had on their bodies.
Agassi said that he had back pain. Graf stated, ‘Sitting there, my hips are hurting. I have a knee that is bone on bone… It was difficult on our bodies.
They have maintained a low profile since retiring their tennis whites on the court in 2006/99.
After they won the 1999 French Open, the couple, who were frequently seen kissing while on the court, got back together. They also danced together at the winners’ ball.
Graf won 22 singles title at Wimbledon, U.S. Open, Australian Open and Australian Open. He also took part in 56 Grand Slam events.
Agassi, who retired from professional tennis in 2006 after a successful career that included 60 titles and the number 1 spot in April 1995, has now decided to retire.
Brooke Shields was Agassi’s first wife, but they were only married for two years before she died in 1999.
