Saturday Night Takeaway with Ant and Dec almost always delivers laughs and funny jokes. However, many viewers were left stunned after seeing their first prank on ITV1. Ant and Dec opened their long-awaited debut show with a “prank”. It involved a pregnant woman convincing her husband that he was going to see her unborn child in a baby scanner. But, it was later revealed that the scan footage was fake.
Amy, a guest on the program, wanted revenge on Liam, her partner in crime who she says is always pranking. Tonight’s episode featured Ant and Dec’s idea to use Amy’s pregnancy, Liam’s first baby, to prank Liam.
The elaborate plan took ten months to perfect and Liam was pranked at baby scans and birthing class. Amy even did a photo shoot shortly after Finley was born. The biggest prank was performed during a baby scan. Liam was shown a dancing baby and he was waving to Amy’s stomach. Surprisingly, he discovered that the footage he had seen didn’t show his baby, and that the baby’s movements had also been digitally edited.

Another prank involved wearing a heavy pregnancy suit, pretending to be Finley, and posing with a loaf bread during a photo shoot. It was not well received by viewers.
One replied, “Um. This prank on Ant+Dec was weird. They have fooled a guy who was seeing his unborn baby for the first-time in a 4D scan. They’re not showing his baby. This is a rare moment for first-time parents. I think it’s off, anyway.#SaturdayNightTakeaway”
Another viewer was disappointed to say that he wasn’t sure whether the joke was meant to be a’revengee’. “The poor man thinks it’s his baby. This is a ridiculous joke. #SaturdayNightTakeaway,” whilst another said: “This isn’t sitting comfortably with me for some reason. It’s quite cruel. This is a bizarre thing to prank about. #SaturdayNightTakeaway”.
Another viewer upset, who claimed they’d lost a baby, stated: “As someone that has just lost a baby. I think it’s a bit disgusting to be joking around about something like this #SaturdayNightTakeaway”. One person said that the baby scan prank was in bad taste. Also imagine (heaven forbid) if something had gone wrong with the pregnancy #SaturdayNightTakeaway”.
At the end of the prank, Ant and Dec told Amy and Liam that they had set up a savings fund for Finley, which has £18,000 in it, a grand for every year until he is an adult.
Is it possible that Ant and Dec went too far in their prank? We’d love to hear your opinion on tonight’s episode. Leave a comment below.
