Teyonah Parris and her husband, James, are parents! Monday The Marvels Star announced that she gave birth to the couple’s daughter one month ago and shared a video of her home birth on Instagram.
“What a friggin whirlwind. ? I have so much to share, but I’m too sleep deprived to fully articulate it. But I will say- God bless all of you parents out there,” she captioned. “I have never imagined what parenthood would be like in my entire life. It really does take a village, and I am so thankful for the one that we have. You can be there to hold the baby and give advice, or just to listen to my crying at 3 AM. You are a million times too kind!!??”
Parris shared that she and James began their pregnancy journey intending for a hospital birth but changed their plans “late in the game,” which led them to their “amazing midwife” and “bomb doula and lactation consultant” whom the actress thanked profusely. Everything happens for a reason, and being at home was an amazing experience for us all. I have so many things I want to share about our journey to this point and the experience it was. “There’s more to come,” she wrote.
After thanking their photographer for capturing the home birth, Parris took a moment to share her gratitude for her mother with her fans, writing, “And thank you to my Momma who came down and spent weeks with us helping us figure out up from down, left from right. You are an amazing mother. I am overwhelmed by your kindness and love. And seeing you still taking care of me at my big grown age ?? (yall I’m talking rubbing my back and head as I cry in her lap cuz I don’t know wtf I’m doing and who trusted me with a whole human!To cook for us and to be our daily in-home care so we could get more that 90 minutes of sleep each night. You are a treasured and loved one.
The actress shared her love with her followers by saying, “And Thank You, Here on the Gram, For Your Encouragement and Excitement Through This Pregnancy and for All of Your Well wishes.” “Baby girl and I are doing well, and her Daddy has been supporting us both like none other. Hoping to share more as we go along, but judging how its taken me a month to get this post up ?? who knows!! ??Thank you and I love you all!
Parris, who was pregnant with their first child together, announced her pregnancy back in September. The 35-year old also took to Twitter to share the moment. She wrote, “There have not been enough feelings since we learned that our dream is finally coming true.” James, my husband, and I felt shock, nerves, excitement, and a lot of nerves. It was an incredible feeling to see the word PREGNANT! We are so thankful and blessed.”
In a conversation, she also shared how she surprised her husband by the news. PeopleHe shared that his mom made him a small gift box, and she also included the pregnancy test along with other goodies for first-time dads.
“When he opened it, he found the test. It was clearly marked. He started screaming and was very excited. We were crying and really happy.”
“My husband, and I made this decision because it’s one the greatest gifts and surprises God can give us,” she said. It’s been helpful to not have preconceived ideas about our baby and to try not to define who the baby is before meeting them. That’s really been helpful.
We are so proud of the three-person family.
