Meghan Trainor has the truth about what it means to choose between having a family or having your dream job. And her big advice is: don’t! Yes, you can have both, and in fact, the “Made You Look” singer says if you want a baby, just go for it!
“For anyone out there who wants to have a baby, and you’re like, oh no, my career isn’t where I want it to be. A baby won’t ruin it, it’ll make it better,” she said in a new episode of Spotify’s Best advice Today’s podcast. “Babies bring luck. I promise. I promise, everything will work out.”
That is what I love! It certainly seems true for the “Mother” singer, whose popularity has exploded recently with her new album, It’s Time to Take It Back. She wrote this after giving birth, with husband Daryl Sabara. She’s also a huge TikTok star at the same time, and is currently pregnant with baby number 2.
“I always wanted a baby, forever, for years. And I, it was just, like, too busy…” she continued on the podcast. “But then COVID hit, and I was like, this is our chance. And we got knocked up immediately.”
Afterward, she was ready for another…and another. “We had Riley, and I wanted a second baby. I want four babies,” she explained. “And I wish every day that my husband could carry it. Cause, yes, I’m very busy and I have a lot to do.” Ha! Don’t we all wish that? Then she realized that she could be a mother and pursue her popstar dreams simultaneously.
“And even with the second one I got all in my head. It was hard to believe, but the album was successful and the song was a huge hit. How could I possibly get pregnant now?” Trainor went on. “And I’m finally at a place that’s like, no dude, babies bring luck. I will adapt to everyone around me. You’re OK. If you want a baby, have a baby.”
It’s exactly what you want! Have a baby if you want one! Everything else will work out. There’s something about being a mom that is just so empowering and so confidence-inducing. Trainor is a great example of this.
“I never thought I’d be here living my pop star dreams. Believe in yourself more, ‘cause you could do anything,” Trainor went on. “You know, when I achieved all this stuff, I was like, now what? What do you know? Then I had my baby. And that’s how I live now is like, oh, I did that. You can do it now. You can. You could do anything.”
Trainor and her husband have a sweet ritual that boosts confidence. Trainor said SheKnows earlier this month, “Every parent should do this. Me and Daryl will high five and be like, ‘We’re good at this!’ Like when our kid is so happy, so kind, so sweet, we’re like, ‘Yo — we make good babies! Oh, we made a star.’ So that’s why we’re confident in making more. We’re like, we’ve kept him alive for two years, we can do this.”
Her positive outlook is so refreshing. Embrace your inner mama strength and be proud — you can do whatever your heart desires, too!
