CEDARS, at 66th & Pioneers, is planning a new project to build the Carriage HouseThis will be a new facility that will expand their Emergency Shelter. The facility is for homeless teens that are pregnant or parenting.
Development Associate with CEDARS, Jason Danner, “Carriage House will help provide parenting support, education, guidance, life skills training, therapeutic support, employment support. Basically, we’ll help them understand how to take care of themselves and their child or children. Basic life skills, nutrition, proper parenting, pre and post natal care, regular medical check ups for them and their child.”
“Carriage House will be a safe, stable, supportive setting for these vulnerable young parents to help them be successful and prepare them to transition into a more long term living arrangement for them and their child….We know that this program is needed. Frankly, Lincoln has an issue with homelessness and we’re trying to do our part to help the kids and the youth of southeast Nebraska and of around the state to meet the needs in our community,” said Danner.
Give To Lincoln Day is an annual campaign to raise funds for local organizations. Each dollar donated on Give To Lincoln Day will directly go to the Carriage House Project. You can already donate to CEDARS on Give To Lincoln Day. CEDARS plans to start construction on this project by the end of summer. For more information about Give to Lincoln Day, click here.
